Superintendent: Heat Forces Schools into Half Day Thursday

No afternoon or evening activities.

Editor's note: The following is from Hopatcong schools Superintendent Dr. Charles Maranzano.

This is Superintendent of Schools Dr. Charles Maranzano for Hopatcong Borough. Due to the excessive heat expected tomorrow in the New Jersey metropolitan area, Hopatcong Schools will open for only a half day on Thursday.  There will be no afternoon or evening events at any of our schools, and no music concert at Durban Avenue School.  There will be no afternoon Day Plus and the 1st grade field trip is cancelled tomorrow.  Schools will only be open in the morning on Thursday.  We expect to resume a regular schedule on Friday.

Teachers and children should dress with appropriate summer attire during the morning session tomorrow.  Schools will follow the typical half day schedule.  We urge all persons to remain hydrated and keep healthy during this period of extreme heat.
