With a Taste for the Sea, Four Boy Scouts from Hopatcong Set Sail

Troop 88 of Hopatcong recently recognized four of its scouts for honors and skills earned during a high adventure trip in the Florida Keys.

The Florida National High Adventure Sea Base, located in Islamorada is a unique Scouting program that offers aquatics programs found nowhere else.

The scouts set sail for 6 days in mid-summer on an 80 foot schooner equipped and prepared for an unforgettable adventure snorkeling the beautiful Keys’ reefs, fishing, and hands-on sailing as well as a port-o-call in Key West.

Beyond the beautiful weather and crystal clear seas the boys highlights included earning their snorkeling merit badges, catching some large fish including a barracuda, joining the 100 fathom swim club, and visiting an alligator farm.
