Two Dogs Saved From Sparta Fire
A stray cigarette butt caused the fire, Sparta Police said.

SPARTA, NJ— Two dogs were saved from a house fire last week, Sparta Police said in a statement. Firefighters were able to put the fire out without major damage to the home.
The small house fire on Hillside Road happened at 3:51 p.m. on April 13. First responders saw smoke and flames coming from the second story, and were able to break in through the backdoor.
No one was home at the time, except for two dogs. Patrols extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher and the garden house, preventing major fire damage. The Sparta Fire Department extinguished the rest.
