Underage Memorial Day Party Busted By Hopatcong Police
One teenager was arrested after she refused to call her parents because she'd get in too much trouble at home, police said.

HOPATCONG, NJ — Two teenagers were arrested after Hopatcong police broke up a Memorial Day party with underage drinking, they said in a release.
Police were called to the Keith Road home shortly after midnight on Monday for a noise complaint. There they found a party run by a 17-year-old girl.
Party goers were told to call their parents to pick them up, but one girl refused. After being told again, the girl said no, that she would be in too much trouble with her parents.

Saying they smelled alcohol on her breath, police arrested her for underage consumption of alcohol. As they were walking to the patrol car, the girl slipped out of one of her handcuffs "and tried to turn on" the arresting officer, Capt. Thomas Kmetz wrote in a statement.
The girl was put into an arm bar and taken to headquarters. She told police she was 17, but after calling her mother and running her drivers license, police discovered she was 18. The girl was also charged with hindering apprehension and resisting arrest.

The message Hopatcong police want others to take away from this?
"If the police tell you to do something just do it," Kmetz said. "In this case the female would have called her parents and would only have to deal with their discipline at home. Now she faces criminal charges."
The 17-year-old host was charged with underage consumption.
