As the crowd erupted behind him, John Loscalzo kept his arm in the air, exuding calm.

Yeah, the senior had just hit a halfcourt shot in front of more than 100 people. So what?

"I'm an animal," he said.

Loscalzo was the only participant to nail the halfcourt heave in the middle of Thursday night's Project Grad 2012 fundriaser basketball games. It took nearly five minutes for Loscalzo to get his shot. And he made the most of it.

What did Loscalzo, who played on the students team, win for his $1 shot? A T-shirt.

But the memory will last longer.
