Vote on Budget, School Board Elections Today

You have the choice.

Today, you can help decide who gets onto the Board of Education and if the Hopatcong schools budget passes. So, here are 5 Things You Need to Know about voting.

  1. You Need to Know When You Can Vote: Polls will be open from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  2. You Need to Know The BOE Order: Here's how it'll look on the ballot: Margaret Bongiorno, Richard Lavery, Patricia LoBue, Susan Madar.
  3. You Need to Know About School Property Taxes: If the budget passes, which it hasn't in seven years, school property taxes will jump $109. If it doesn't, Superintendent Dr. Charles Maranzano said six or more teachers could lose their jobs.
  4. You Need to Know About a Teacher's Plea: Patch spoke with teacher and lifelong borough resident Jerry Venturino on Monday. Last week, he was told he could lose his job if the budget fails.
