What would residents get from joining this non-profit? While most residents join this organization to address the question, "Now what?" the group also provides seniors with information pertaining to Federal, State and County information. During their monthly meetings speakers are invited to provide information on various subjects with time for a question and answer period from the members.
Tell us about some of the good the group has done for the community. Our members are active in supporting local events, depending on their interests. We provide financial support for our disabled Veterans at Lyons Veteran Hospital along with financial support for the "Save the People" food baskets during holiday seasons. We also provide support for each other while assisting members who may be shut-ins or non-drivers for various appointments.
What is the best thing about the group? They say 60 is the new 50. Hopatcong Seniors, Inc., allows residents to get to know each other, enjoy companionship and get as involved as they are inclined. The members enjoy attending day trips and overnight vacations at reduced rates. The group has gone to Cape Cod, a Dude Ranch, Ocean City Maryland, Wildwood and various other locations. Our goal is to keep fit and on the go while enjoying each other's company. There is also a weekly exercise class.
When was the group established? Hopatcong Seniors, Inc., was first established in 1968 and incorporated in the State of New Jersey on February 9, 1970. We have been active ever since.
When does it meet? Hopatcong Seniors, Inc., meets on the first Thursday of each month.
How much does it cost? The membership fee is only $5.00 annually at the time of registration.
