DAV Charitable Service Trust Supports Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey

The Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust grant will support the nonprofit's mission in assisting the elderly.

Toms River N.J.  ~ Caregiver Volunteers of Central  Jersey is the proud recipient of a generous 2016n Grant from The Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust. The grant will support the nonprofit's efforts to assist elderly veterans and their families through its respite, friendly visits, Caregiver Canine home pet visits and grocery shopping services.

Ocean County is home to the largest veteran population in New Jersey. Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey(CVCJ) has been providing their supportive services since 1993. In 2016, their service area expanded to include parts of Monmouth County as well, with a satellite office located in Freehold, NJ.

CVCJ relies on volunteers to provide services and currently has over 1000 dedicated individuals in a number of assignments.  All volunteers complete orientation, undergo a criminal background checks, driver history abstracts and are provided supplemental insurance.   

According to Lynette Whiteman, Executive Director "We are so grateful to The DAV Charitable Trust for their support of community's elderly veterans and their caregivers. We are dedicated to honoring these individuals who gave so much to our country by helping them age with dignity in comfort of their own homes. This financial support allows us to continue our mission of care."
