Georgian Court Announces Faculty Promotions

Three Georgian Court University professors, all proven scholars, were recently promoted to full professor or associate professor.

Lakewood, N.J., March 11, 2016—Three Georgian Court University professors are among the institution’s most recently promoted faculty members, GCU officials announced this month.

Kathryn Quinn-Sanchez, Ph.D., was promoted to the rank of Full Professor, and Russell McDonald, Ph.D., and Cathleen McQuillen, DPS, were promoted to the rank of Associate Professor with tenure. All were honored for their excellence in teaching, leadership on campus, and significant and sustained contributions in their academic disciplines. (Photos available upon request)

Dr. Quinn-Sanchez has been promoted to Professor. She teaches Spanish language and is the Faculty Liaison for the Latin American Student Organization (LASO).

Her work focuses on Latin Studies, as well as 20th and 21st Century Latin American Literature. She has published several articles including “A Literary and Political History of Post-Revolutionary Mexico: Redefining “The Ideal”. She earned a B.A. in Spanish from College of the Holy Cross, an M.A. in Spanish from Middlebury College and a Ph.D. in Romance Languages from University of North Carolina.

Russell McDonald, Ph.D. has been promoted to Associate Professor with tenure of the English Department. Dr. McDonald teaches various English classes including Modern British Literature, Contemporary British Literature, Gateways to Literary Study, and Understanding Poetry.

Dr. McDonald’s research focuses on British, Irish, and American Modernism especially authors like W.B. Yeats, James Joyce, D.H. Lawrence, and Marianne Moore. Furthermore it involves textual scholarship and collaboration studies. He was published in “Revision and Competing Voices in D.H. Lawrence’s Collaborations with Women,” Textual Cultures: Texts, Contexts, Interpretation 4.1 (Spring 2009): 391-413.

Dr. McDonald earned a B.A. in English and Classical Studies, with a minor in Latin. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Washington, and earned an M.A. in English Language and Literature as well as a Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan.

Cathleen McQuillen, Ph.D. was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in the GCU School of Business & Digital Media.

Dr. McQuillen teaches various Business classes including Financial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Accounting Information System, Fund Accounting and Business Math.

Her research focuses on Sustainability and Board of Directors. She published the work “In process Sustainability and the effect of the Board of Directors”.

She serves on the School of Business & Digital Media Curriculum Committee, and the General Education Task Force Committee. Dr. McQuillen earned a B.A. from College of New Rochelle, an M.B.A. from Long Island University and her Doctor of Professional Studies from Pace University.
