Hazardous Materials In Howell Home Spark Evacuations
Adjoining units in the Point O' Woods development were evacuated, police said.

Residents of Balsam Court in Howell woke up Sunday morning to multiple law enforcement agencies on their street after police spotted hazardous materials while responding to a first aid call.
Howell Sgt. Scott Revilak said police responded to the first aid call on Balsam Court, in the Point O’ Woods development, shortly after 6 a.m.
“While addressing the call, officers observed potential hazardous materials on scene,” Revilak said. The adjoining condominium units were evacuated for safety purposes while the scene was investigated, he said.

Howell Police notified multiple agencies regarding the matter, including the township’s Office of Emergency Management, the Southard Fire Department, the Adelphia Fire Department, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, the Monmouth County Office of Emergency Management, Monmouth County Hazmat, New Jersey State Police Bomb Squad and hazmat officers, he said.
The investigation is presently ongoing, said Revilak, who did not describe the hazardous materials.
