Howell Man Gets 12-Year Prison Term In Sex Assault On 2-Year-Old

Kevin Motyka videotaped his attack on the boy; he also traded child pornography, though not of the boy he assaulted, authorities said.

A Howell man has been sentenced to 12 years in state prison for sexually assaulting a 2-year-old boy and videotaping the attack, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said Friday.

Kevin Motyka, 24, of Overlook Terrace, had pleaded guilty in March to first-degree aggravated sexual assault; three counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child by causing or permitting a child to engage in child pornography, manufacturing child pornography and distributing child pornography; and one count of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child by engaging in sexual conduct with a child, Charles Webster, spokesman for county prosecutor’s office, said.

Motyka was arrested in February 2014 following an investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit, prompted by tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The investigation revealed Motyka sexually assaulted a 2-year-old boy between May and December 2012, and created photographs and video recordings of the attacks, Webster said.

Motyka also distributed child pornography of images that did not include his young victim, he said.

Motyka’s prison term is subject to an 85 percent period of parole ineligibility and he will be subject to the provisions of Megan’s Law and parole supervision for life, as well as other conditions including no unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18, Webster said.
