Home Ownership is Possible Through Morris Habitat for Humantiy

Randolph, NJ March 4, 2013 — Morris Habitat for Humanity seeks low income applicants for home ownership at the following properties:

 

  • A one-bedroom home in a duplex on Hazel Street, Morristown will be renovated and will be sold for $75,000

  • A 2 bedroom home in a duplex will be built on Willow Street, Morristown that will be sold for $115,000.

 

Income limits range from $31,000 to $44,000, depending on household size. Applicants will be evaluated on income level, credit scores of 600 or better, debt to income ratio of 40% or lower and other criteria. Qualified applicants will be assigned a lottery number and the prospective homeowners will be selected via lottery.  The selected applicants will be expected to attend homeownership workshops and provide 300 hours of “sweat equity” helping to build their home before it will be sold to them.  Home ownership also requires participation in a Condominium Association and a monthly maintenance fee will be assessed

Interested parties must attend one orientation meeting prior to applying.  Pre-Registration is recommended. Meetings will be held on Thursday April 4 at 7:00PM and Saturday April 6 at 10:00AM at the offices of Morris Habitat for Humanity, 274 South Salem Street, Suite 100, Randolph, NJ.  Applications will only be available after attendance at an orientation.  Please call 973-891-1934 or email info@morrishabitat.org to register to attend.
