Beginner Yoga Class Begins, 'Food Matters' at the Library

Here's what you need to know in Jefferson Township for Wednesday.

  • The Jefferson Township Recreation Department's Beginner Yoga Class kicks off its fall session Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The 12-session, hour-long class covers basic techniques and yoga philosophy for new beginners, those with limited yoga experience, those recovering from an injury, or anyone who needs a slow, steady pace. The class runs through Dec. 11; the fee is $42 per person. Meet at the Jefferson Township Middle School Cafeteria, 1000 Weldon Road, Oak Ridge. You must register and pay before the class: Forms are available at the Recreation Department, thee Municipal Building, the Jefferson Public Library or online at www.jeffersontownship.net.   • Health and healing are the focus at the Jefferson Township Library Wednesday evening. At 6:30 p.m., the library will screen "Food Matters," a documentary that exposes the booming global "sickness industry" and posits the unconventional nutritional therapy. Discussion follows the film, and Audrey Dworak, a certified holistic health coach and healing foods chef, will serve "green" smoothies. Admission is free. The library is at 1031 Weldon Road.
  • Volunteers are still needed for the Lake Hopatcong Foundation's community clean-up effort of lower lake level areas. The rain or shine event will be held Nov. 9 from 8 a.m. to noon. (Extreme weather will push the date to Nov. 16.)  To do your part, call Donna at 973-663-2500.
