Your daily planner for Hopatcong-Sparta includes news on Wednesday's special U.S. Senate election and SAT preparation at JTHS.

Here's what you need to know for Wednesday.

  • It's Special Election Day in New Jersey. Throughout the Garden State, voters will cast ballots to decide whether Democrat Cory Booker or Republican Steve Lonegan will take over the seat left vacant after the June death of Sen. Frank Lautenberg. The polls will be open from 6 a.m.-8 p.m. Find your polling place in Jefferson Township here. Be sure to visit Patch tonight after the polls close, when we hope to report results as soon as they become available.
  • The Lake Hopatcong Foundation hosts a restaurant night benefit to support its work to improve the lake.  Have dinner at Gatwyns on Wednesday evening between 5-10 p.m., and 15 percent of your tab will go to the foundation. For more information on The Lake Hopatcong Foundation restaurant night contact 973-663-2500 or send email to info@lakehopatcongfoundation.org. The restaurant is at 900 Route 15 in Lake Hopatcong.
  • Rehearsals for the Mr. Jefferson contest continue Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Jefferson Township High School. The school can be found at 1010 Weldon Road.
  • The high school also hosts an SAT Preparation Program Tuesday night. The session takes place in Classrooms B-9 and B-10 from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
