It took a few games, but the Jefferson boys soccer team notched its first win on Tuesday against Morris Hills, winning by a 1-0 margin.
“We started the game strong, and hit the crossbar in the first minute of the game,” said Falcon head coach Travis Gage. “And then for the next 40 minutes we stayed very even with them.”
Then Morris Hills got a penalty kick at the end of the first half.

“Matt Servedio saved that goal, and it was a huge save for us,” Gage said.
The Falcons came out strong in the second half, and 67 minutes into the game, Dylan Johnson kicked in what would be the winning goal. It was set up when Evan Harris played the ball in and Christian Battiloro passed the ball to Johnson.

“My thought process that I saw the ball, saw that I was about 18 yards out and just knew that I had to put it in,” Johnson said. “I could tell where goal was from my perspective. The ball felt great coming off my foot, and I saw that the goalie had misjudged it.”
“Our team played as a unit today,” Servedio said. “I could tell from the way we were playing that it was time for us to win, and we did.”
“Not too shabby,” Johnson concluded.
