WHAT A WEEKEND!

Sport Squirts and Jefferson Recreational and Travel Softball programs keep busy over the weekend.

Jefferson’s 10u Gold Softball team was supposed to meet up after a long week of rain outs with West Milford, but the game was canceled.  The Lady Falcons met at the High School fields for a few rounds of batting practice instead.  Their next game is on Thursday at Mount Olive.

Saturday also was a good day at Kennedy for the recreational teams.  I heard the Snack Stand is out of food again!  So I’m sure there were a lot of hotdogs, pretzels, fries and candy purchased.

The 10u Blue team headed off to Kittatinny this past weekend for the annual Spring Fling Tournament.  The Lady Falcons stayed strong with their pitching staff of Kasey Sekula, Ryleigh White and Taylor Haight as they stood toe to toe with the more experienced A level teams.  A great catch in the outfield and a quickly scooped up ball at third kept the runners at bay, but inevitably the team took third after losing on Sunday in the semi finals.  I hope all the girls walked away with their head held high, they did a great job!

The last stop of the day was with Sports Squirts.  My Kylie Rose plays T-Ball for them in the 3 year old group.  It was a dreary day and she was one of four children to show up to their last practice.  All of the children had a great time because they got more chances to hit off the T and there was more one on one attention.  After Kylie got to take her last hit and run around the bases, she received her completion certificate.  She was so excited she held it in the car all the way home.

The “Gritty in Pink” Softball fundraiser is in full swing.  We went with tie-dye again this year, but in pink and white.  The logo is a softball trim on the breast cancer awareness bow.  We are also selling matching shorts with a pink Jefferson logo on the leg.
