Boating Safety, Restaurant Night for the Lake, Depression Forum at the Library

An elementary school book fair and new of the JTMS PTA Casino Night are included in your weekly planner for Jefferson Township.

Here's what you need to know in the week ahead.

  • Jefferson Township Hall and its offices will be closed Monday in observance of Veterans Day.
  • The White Rock School continues its Scholastic Book Fair Monday through Wednesday. From 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on each of the three days, books will available for purchase in the school's Media Center, 2 Francine Place in Oak Ridge.
  • Are you, or is someone you know, experiencing persistent sadness, emptiness, decreased energy level, struggling to make decisions or having difficulty performing activities of daily living? If you answered yes to any of these questions, the Jefferson Township Public Library presents "Is It Depression or Just the Blues?," a discussion led by wellness expert SueAnn Schierloh on depression, its symptoms and an overview of some effective coping strategies.   • On Thursday, the Lake Hopatcong Foundation hosts a restaurant night fundraiser at Frank's Pizza of Mount Arlington to support its mission to improve Lake Hopatcong for all who use it. Enjoy dinner at Franks on Thursday from 5-10 p.m. and 15 percent of your food bill will become a generous donation for the LHF. Parties of five or more are asked to make a reservation in advance at 973-398-7300. Franks Pizza is conveniently located at 181 Howard Blvd. in Mt. Arlington. You must be 21 or over to attend.   • The Jefferson Township Middle School PTA hosts an adults only Casino Night Friday at Casa Bianca on Berkshire Valley Road in Oak Ridge. Tickets are $48 and include $100 in gambling money, hot hors d'oeurves, cold antipasto buffet and dessert. Cash bar. Doors open at 6:30 pm, gambling begins at 6:45 pm. Winnings will be redeemed for raffle tickets for chances to win gift baskets.
  • Here is the final opportunity in 2013 for recreational boaters to obtain the NJ Boating Safety Certificate: The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 06-07 offers its periodic boating safety course “About Boating Safely” at the Hopatcong Civic Center this Saturday. The class runs from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at 32 Lakeside Blvd. in nearby Hopatcong. Contact FSO-PE Frank Federico at f.federico@att.net. Price is $65 and includes lunch.
