School District Continues to Meet Goals

School climate, student achievement and post-high school success discussed.

The is meeting goals in the areas of school climate, student achievement and success after high school, according to superintendent Dr. Kathaleen Fuchs.

During a presentation at a recent board of education meeting, Fuchs outlined what the goals are and what the township is doing to meet them.

The goals are:

School Climate: Implement programs to improve school climate and develop the skills that make responsible and contributing citizens.

Student Achievement: Continue with initiatives that advance student achievement through curriculum implementation, professional development and application of technology.

Success After High School: Increase focus and resources on student success after high school.

Toward school climate, Fuchs discussed the new , along with substance abuse. The district will offer in-school programs, guest speakers and more training for staff.

“We have many character education programs coming up that dovetail with and state programs,” Fuchs said. “We have also heightened security with the addition of more cameras in the and .”

A plan that includes curriculum implementation, yearly progress for grades K-5, new technology, professional learning community (PLC) progress and the use of the RealTime student information system will enhance student achievement, Fuchs said.

And finally, for post high school success, Fuchs discussed budgeting for juniors in high school to take the PSAT test, which she said will help enhance SAT performance. Fuchs also discussed post-graduation tracking tools the district could use to gauge student achievement in college and after.
