Your daily planner for Jefferson Township.

Women are invited to take a proactive step for their health and well-being. The township offers a Jefferson Township Health Department Female Cancer Screening Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Public Health Center, 57 Minnisink Road in Lake Hopatcong. This screening includes a pelvic and breast examination, pap smear, blood pressure check, occult blood test (test for blood in stool), mammography referrals (if eligible), health education and counseling. The fee is $20 and you must be a town resident age 18 or over. You must have an appointment to attend: Call 973-663-0700.
Fall does not have to mean the end of enjoying your garden, according to the Jefferson Township Library. The information repository presents “The Fall Garden,” a slideshow featuring photos of autumnal varieties of trees, shrubs, ornamental grasses and perennials. Horticulturist and County College of Morris teacher Marc Zukovich will offer a lecture and preside over a question and answer session. The event is free and runs from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday. The library is located at 1031 Weldon Road. For more info, call 973-208-6244.
