BRBQ by Award-Winning DOMODOMO Team Set to Open June 20th at Journal Square Urby

Third Jersey City concept from the acclaimed DOMODOMO team brings Korean-American flair to the neighborhood

Jersey City’s culinary scene is about to get another major addition. BRBQ, the newest concept from acclaimed DOMODOMO co-owners Jae Park and Brian Kim, is set to open later this month at Journal Square Urby, delivering innovative Korean-American cuisine, wood-fired flavors, and vibrant café energy to the heart of one of the city’s fastest-growing neighborhoods.

The duo behind DOMODOMO, known for earning a Michelin Bib Gourmand distinction in Manhattan before expanding across the Hudson to Jersey City in 2019, have quickly become key players in the local dining scene. ONDO, their waterfront hotspot, opened shortly after the opening of DOMODOMO Jersey City, and now BRBQ marks their third concept in Jersey City—this time at the base of the 25-story Urby tower directly across from the Journal Square PATH.

While the full menu will be revealed at opening on June 20th, BRBQ will be an energetic restaurant and stylish all-day restaurant serving brunch and dinner, with a laid-back lounge atmosphere and a menu that leans into smoky, wood-fired cooking and bold Asian-American flavors. Signature dishes like Double side cut - LA Galbi (Korean BBQ Short Ribs) and Mochi Pancakes are paired with a warm, modern interior featuring wood accents and neon-inspired artwork that nods to the fluorescent light works of Dan Flavin. In warmer months, ample outdoor seating invites diners to enjoy the buzz of Journal Square al fresco.

BRBQ will open Tuesday through Thursday from 12PM to 2:30PM for lunch, 3PM to 5PM for happy hour, and 5PM to 9PM for dinner. On Fridays through Sundays, the restaurant will be open from 11AM to 2:30PM for lunch and 5PM to 10PM for dinner.

Seamlessly integrated adjacent to Journal Square Urby’s lobby, BRBQ reflects Urby’s ongoing commitment to designing spaces that bring people together and connect residents with the surrounding community through food and culture.

“At Urby, we see this area as a key opportunity to spark community engagement,” said David Barry, Founder and CEO of Urby. “BRBQ captures that spirit perfectly. With Jae and Brian’s vision and impressive legacy in Jersey City, it will be a dynamic, street-accessible restaurant that brings real energy to Journal Square and becomes a lively gathering spot for both residents and the surrounding neighborhood.”

“We’re thrilled to bring BRBQ to Journal Square and to partner with Urby to further expand our brand in Jersey City,” said Chef Brian Kim, co-founder of DOMODOMO. “We can’t wait to share our passion for creative, Korean-American cuisine with this incredible community and are excited to be part of this vibrant, innovative development.”

Located at 532 Summit Avenue, Journal Square Urby includes 317 brand new apartments and was designed by Amsterdam-based firm Concrete, with HLW serving as Executive Architect. The property also features a host of energy-infused social spaces, as well as a striking 25-story mural by Felipe Pantone, the internationally acclaimed artist known for kinetic works exploring digital culture and transformation.
