1. 2 Firefighters And Woman Injured In Jersey City Heights Fire (patch.com) — A three-alarm fire on Franklin Street in Jersey City's Heights neighborhood left one woman and two firefighters injured Tuesday afternoon, while also displacing three residents. Fire crews quickly knocked down the smoky blaze, which spread from 121 to 119 Franklin St., and city emergency officials and the Red Cross are now helping those left homeless.

Synthetic Shrooms Corp Compass Pathways Opens US Office in Jersey City (headynj.com) — A UK-based mental health biotech, Compass Pathways, has just opened its U.S. office in Jersey City, drawing support from Congressman Rob Menendez Jr., Mayor James Solomon, and Hudson County Executive Craig Guy. Leaders highlighted the city's growing life-sciences hub and the company's FDA-designated Breakthrough Therapy, a synthetic psilocybin treatment that could begin clinic use as early as 2027, potentially at local hospital partners.

3. Jersey City Begins Search for New Corporation Counsel (TAPinto.net) — Jersey City is beginning a search for a new Corporation Counsel after Sarah Levine resigned, though she'll stay on during the transition to support the Law Department. Levine helped defend the city's sanctuary policies and fought the proposed closure of Christ Hospital, and Mayor James Solomon plans to appoint an acting counsel soon while seeking a permanent replacement.

Jersey City Columbus Day Parade to Celebrate Italian-American Heritage Saturday (TAPinto.net) — Jersey City's Columbus Day Parade returns this Saturday, Oct. 10, stepping off from Dickinson High School at 1 p.m. and marching through the historic Italian Village to the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza. The event will honor local Italian Americans for contributions to Jersey City and wrap up with an after‑party at O'Leary's Publik House featuring food and music.
