'Bro, No!!! This Can't Be Real,' Moloney's Meat Market Is Closed
Jersey City residents express their sadness on social media upon hearing a community staple since 1875 has shut its doors.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — In a video posted on the Moloney's Meat Market Instagram page in July, two men, one of them identified as Eddie Moloney, explain the business has been around for "five generations" and is "still going strong."
According to a Tuesday post on that same account, that no longer appears to be the case.
Rumors about the demise of the beloved business- which, according to its website, was established in 1875 - have been swirling online since last week. Nobody at the shop, located at 627 Newark Ave., has been answering the phone.

This week, posted on the store's Instagram page, is a photo of a street sign that reads "No Parking, Except Vehicles Loading and Unloading," The sign reportedly was recently placed in front of the store. In an accompanying post, moloneysmeatmarket wrote:
"This is hilarious, been begging the city since 2018 to make a loading zone in front of the store for the patrons to shop ...so we don't go out of business!!! One week after the store closes officially.... Presto!!! Oh it must be voting season!!!!"
