Driver Charged After Causing Serious Injuries In Jersey City Crash: Prosecutors
A 45-year-old man was arrested at home and charged with assault by auto in connection with a Jersey City car crash in January.
JERSEY CITY, NJ —A Jersey City resident was arrested at home on Thursday and charged with assault by auto in connection with a motor vehicle crash in that city in January, prosecutors said.
Members of the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit arrested Patrick Gapasin, 45, of Jersey City. He was charged with aggravated assault and assault by auto.
He was taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said.

On Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023, at approximately 7:55 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department was
notified of a collision in the area of Routes 1 and 9 and Sip Avenue, prosecutors said.
Police came upon two vehicles – a Honda Accord operated by a 60-year-old Jersey City man and an Infinity Q60 operated by Gapasin – with heavy damage, prosecutors say.

Both drivers were taken to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment. The 60-year-old driver suffered multiple serious injuries.
The investigation found that Gapasin was traveling north on Routes 1 and 9 at a high rate of speed when his vehicle collided with the Honda Accord at the Sip Avenue intersection, prosecutors said.
Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the
Jersey City Police Department with the investigation and arrest.
