Flash Flood Watch Issued For Jersey City: See Timeline

JERSEY CITY, NJ — The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Jersey City, saying Jersey City and the rest of Hudson County could be hit with as much as 2 to 4 inches of rain from Monday night into Tuesday. (This is a significant amount; for comparison, 5 inches to 9 inches fell in North Jersey during Tropical Depression Ida, although it fell during a shorter period of time).
Jersey City has been posting frequent forecast updates on its Twitter account from the National Weather Service and other outlets. The flash flood watch issued for Hudson, Essex, Passaic, Union counties runs from 8 p.m. Monday through 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Some are saying the storm could take the form of a nor'easter.

High tides in Jersey City during the watch period are on Monday at 1:06 a.m. and 11:49 a.m.

Jersey City has 14 "repeat flooding" intersections throughout the city identified by the Jersey City's Municipal Utilities Authority. During heavy rains and flooding, drivers and residents should use extra caution and avoid the intersections when possible.
