NORTH JERSEY — Protestors held vigils and rallies across North Jersey this past weekend after a 37-year-old mother was fatally shot in the face by an ICE agent in Minnesota.

Renee Good, who had recently moved to Minnesota with her partner and 6-year-old son, was shot by an officer on Wednesday while driving in Minneapolis. The Trump administration says her car posed a threat to officers; supporters say she was trying to leave. A video analysis of the incident is here.

On Monday, the Trump administration said it will send more agents to Minneapolis. And late in the day, the city said it was suing the administration.

Critics of Immigration and Customs Enforcement have complained that their presence is ramping up violence, that ICE was only sent to places run by political foes of the administration, and that U.S. citizens and teenagers have been mistakenly detained.

Ralliers were held over the weekend in Jersey City, Weehawken, Westwood, Fort Lee, Fair Lawn, Bloomfield, and as far away as Georgia and Texas.

At the Jersey City rally, attendees were urged to "say her name," meaning Renee Good.

Protestors chanted, "Say it once, say it twice, we do not put up with ICE."

Katie Brennan, who takes office as assemblywoman this week, said, "We can be mad, we can be scared, but we cannot be stopped. We have to use all the leverage we have until ICE is out of our communities." She encouraged people to call or text 201-616-2816 if they see ICE in their area.
