Jersey City Boy, 11, Pulled Out From Under Car After Hoboken Crash: Police

A Jersey City boy on a bicycle was taken to the hospital last month after being hit by a car in Hoboken, police said.

HOBOKEN, NJ — An 11-year-old boy on a bike was taken to the hospital last month after being hit by a car near the Jersey City/Hoboken border, police said this week.

Hoboken police spokesperson Marci Rubin said that the around 9:45 p.m. on Friday, April 19, Hoboken Police, Fire, and EMS responded to Jackson and First streets on reports of a crash between a vehicle and bicyclist.

The bicyclist, a boy from Jersey City, was trapped under the vehicle, Rubin said.

Firefighters jacked up the car and pulled the 11-year-old out, she said.

He was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. Rubin did not have an update on his condition, but said the injuries were not life-threatening.

An on-scene investigation revealed the child was riding in the wrong direction on Jackson Street when the crash occurred, she said.

The driver of the vehicle stayed on the scene and no charges were filed.
