Man, 27, Sentenced To 22 Years In Jersey City Double Shooting
Anthony Franklin was convicted of attempted murder in connection with a Jersey City shooting, prosecutors said.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — A 27-year-old Jersey City man may spend nearly half his life in prison after being sentenced for a double shooting in that city in 2021.
Anthony Franklin was convicted at trial in February 2023 for attempted murder and weapons charges in connection with the April 2021 shooting, said the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office on Tuesday. Following the verdict on Feb. 23, 2023, Franklin pleaded guilty to one count of certain persons not to possess a weapon in violation, prosecutors said.
He was sentenced by Judge Carlo Abad on Friday to 22 years in New Jersey State Prison pursuant to the Graves Act and No Early Release Act for the case.

He was then also sentenced to seven years in New Jersey State Prison for the Certain Persons offense, which will be served concurrently.
The shooting took place in the area of Lexington Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard in Jersey City on April 5, 2021, prosecutors said, and two individuals were injured.

NJ.com reported that Franklin has been in and out of prison since he turned 18.
The State was represented at sentencing by Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Erica Bertuzzi.
