Murder Charge For Jersey City Man Nabbed In Virginia
A man was arrested in Virginia in connection with a fatal shooting of Tyreef Robinson in Jersey City over the weekend.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — U.S. marshals today arrested a man in Virginia who is charged with the murder of a 24-year-old man in Jersey City this past Saturday.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office said they had charged Brandon Montague of Jersey City for murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Tyreef Robinson in Jersey City on Saturday.
Montague has also been charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.

He was arrested on Thursday in Newport News, Va. by the United States Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force in conjunction with the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, prosecutors said.
He has been detained at the Newport News Jail as a Fugitive from Justice pending extradition to New Jersey, prosecutors said.

Jersey City police responded shortly after 10:10 p.m. Saturday to the area of 2 Bergen Ave. They found Robinson with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:27 p.m.
The Regional Medical Examiner’s Officer determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the torso and bilateral lower extremity.
Prosecutor Suarez credited the Homicide Unit, the United States Marshals Service New York/New
Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, the United States Marshals Service Capital Area Regional
Fugitive Task Force, and the Jersey City Police Department with the investigation and arrest.
Homicide Count
The death was the sixth homicide in Hudson County so far in 2023, NJ.com reported.
Out of those six, four have been domestic violence incidents in which women were killed, two of those in Jersey City. Also, a 25-year-old man was shot in late January in Jersey City Heights.
