Man Charged In Overdose Death Of Jersey City Man, 54, At Bergen County Hotel

A man was charged with "strict liability" and cocaine and fentanyl offenses after Luke Revell of Jersey City died in a Bergen County hotel.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — After 54-year-old Luke Revell of Jersey City died of a possible drug overdose in a Bergen County motel last year, a Bloomfield man has been charged with "first-degree strict liability in a drug induced death," as well as cocaine and fentanyl charges.

Alberto Delgado, 43, of Bloomfield, was charged Friday, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.

They said that on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, at approximately 11:52 a.m., the Lyndhurst Police Department responded to the Winslow Motor Hotel located at 204 Rutherford Ave., and located an adult male who was unresponsive.

"Indicators of a possible drug overdose were noted, and detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotic Task Force were notified," prosecutors said. A months-long investigation determined that Delgado "distributed a fatal
dose of narcotics to the victim, causing his death."

Delgado was arrested in Bloomfield and charged with first-degree strict liability in a drug induced death, as well as: first-degree possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, second-degree possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance within 500 feet of a park, third-degree possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance within 1,000 feet of a school zone, third-degree distribution of cocaine, third-degree distribution of fentanyl, and third-degree possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl.

He was taken to the Bergen County Jail to await a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
