The shooting came a day after a young Hoboken man and former Rutgers football player died of gunshot wounds. His mother had told the media that he had been in a dispute over gambling. He was shot dead late Sunday night on the west side of town, near the hills that border Jersey City.

A vigil is planned for him for Tuesday evening.
