UPDATED: Man Killed In Police-Involved Shooting In Jersey City, Attorney General Confirms
The NJ Attorney General's Office said Jersey City police shot and killed a man after a domestic violence incident Tuesday.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — The Jersey City police shot and killed a man around midnight Wednesday following a domestic violence incident, the state Attorney General's Office confirmed Wednesday afternoon.
According to the preliminary investigation, "Uniformed officers of the Jersey City Police Department responded to the intersection of Communipaw Avenue and West Side Avenue, Jersey City, at approximately 11:56 p.m. [Tuesday] in response to a 911 call of a domestic dispute involving a man with a gun."
During the encounter, one Jersey City officer fired his service weapon, fatally wounding the man, the Attorney General's Office said. A firearm was recovered near the man. He was pronounced deceased at the scene at 12:19 a.m. Wednesday, the office said.

The office is investigating the death in accordance with policy about "any death that occurs during an encounter with a law enforcement officer acting in the officer’s official capacity or while the decedent is in custody."
The investigation is ongoing and no further information is being released by the Attorney General's Office at this time, they said.

However, the Jersey City Times reported Wednesday that a woman had been shot in a domestic violence incident and was "fighting for her life."
ABC News reported that two police officers were treated at Jersey City Medical Center for minor injuries.
