Shooting Threat Sends Jersey City School Into Lockdown: Report

Breaking: The school was in a lockdown earlier on Thursday following a gun threat.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — An intruder forced a Jersey City school into lockdown earlier today, a spokesperson for the city told Patch. Sources told media outlets the intruder had also threatened to shoot a student.

"Lincoln High School students are currently being dismissed after being on a precautionary lockdown. The Jersey City Police Department responded and secured the high school earlier today," Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione told Patch. Jersey City police are currently looking for a young male for possibly trespassing, she said.

A spokesperson for the school confirmed that an intruder caused the lockdown. He is no longer in the building.

"Lincoln was put on lockdown because there was an intruder in the building. The intruder has left the building and students will be dismissed," Maryann Dickar told Patch.

Sources told the Jersey Journal a student from nearby Snyder High School posted a shooting threat on Facebook, and entered Lincoln High School. It was not clear if the student had a gun or not.

A sibling of a student was live on Facebook from the school. She did not appear to have any additional information about the threat:
