Teen Charged In Connection With Man Dropped Off At Jersey City Hospital With Gunshot Wound

A man died Dec. 18 after he was brought to Jersey City Medical Center with a gunshot wound. A teen was charged with manslaughter Wednesday.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A 17-year-old male was charged with manslaughter Wednesday in connection with a teen who was dropped off at Jersey City Medical Center on Dec. 18 and pronounced dead shortly after, prosecutors said.

On the afternoon of Dec. 18, Angel Regalado Guzman, 18, of Jersey City arrived at the hospital with an apparent gunshot wound, said the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.

He was brought there around 2:20 p.m. in a private vehicle and pronounced dead shortly before 4 p.m.

An investigation determined that the fatal shooting occurred in a residence on Ocean Avenue in Jersey City, prosecutors said today (Thursday).

The 17-year-old has been charged as a juvenile with aggravated manslaughter and two weapons possession charges.

"Juvenile matters are confidential and no additional information can be released at this time," prosecutors noted.

An obituary for Guzman, the victim, says that a visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 29, from 6-10 p.m. at the funeral home at 3205 Kennedy Blvd. Those using a GPS can put in the address of the parking lot: 14 Stagg St., Jersey City.

Killings Of Young Men

Of homicides in Jersey City, a large percentage each year have been men in their teens and twenties. Of the 24 homicides in Jersey City in 2021, half were men ages 16-27.

The city said this month that violent crime is down citywide so far in 2023.
