Delaware River Greenway Partnership is excited to announce the election of Brian Koons to the Board of Trustees. Brian is driven by a deep curiosity for the natural world and a lifelong passion for the outdoors. He loves learning new things and believes knowledge is meant to be shared. Brian combined his interest in local history and outdoor recreation to create "Delaware River Pedal &amp; Paddle," a guided kayak and bike tour business. While experiencing the Delaware River in a kayak or the Delaware Canal on a bike, he weaves history, ecology, and local stories into the tour. Living along the Delaware River has deepened his appreciation for the rhythms of nature and the need to protect it. He is honored to be a part of the Delaware River Greenway Partnership and will do his part in preserving these resources for future generations. "Brian is a local business owner who is already deeply involved in the Delaware River community. Pine Island is a non-profit summer camp, in continuous operation since 1902 that fosters boys’ independence, imagination, and character. While many camps operate as profit-driven small businesses, Pine Island stands apart as a 501(c)(3) organization. For over a century, it has provided boys aged nine to fifteen the most meaningful experiences of their lives. On a small island in Maine’s Belgrade Lakes, campers live unplugged—without electricity or running water. They gain the freedom to make meaningful choices, the support of a community grounded in shared values, and enough time away from home to feel both independent and integral to a unique community they help build. Whether your son is shy or outgoing, big or small, Pine Island will challenge him to bring out his best in the simple joys and varied circumstances of outdoor living. All of this happens under the close guidance of our caring staff, nearly all of whom are former campers themselves. Spots are limited—Pine Island limits enrollment to fewer than 100 campers each summer.
