2 Airlifted In Lacey Motorcycle Crash: Police

The two motorcycle occupants were found laying unconscious in the middle of the road after a crash with a Jeep Wrangler, police said.

LACEY, NJ — Two occupants of a motorcycle were airlifted after being severely injured in a collision with a Jeep Wrangler Sunday night, police said.

The two motorcyclists were laying in the road, unconscious, when police arrived to the scene of the crash at the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Route 9 at about 10 p.m. March 3, police said.

Both of them appeared to have significant internal injuries and they were flown to Jersey Shore Medical Center, police said.

Initial investigation found that the Jeep Wrangler failed to yield to the right of way of the motorcycle, causing the collision, police said. It was not clear if the Wrangler's driver was injured or if there was anyone else in the car.

The motorcycle occupants are still hospitalized as of Monday morning, but police did not provide any further details on their status.

The roadway was closed for several hours Sunday night as a result.
