Popcorn Park began in Sept. 1977 when a raccoon, named Rigby, came into AHS care after getting injured by a leghold trap. Due to his injuries, he could not be released back into the wild, and the Popcorn Park Animal Refuge was born. In the 45 years since, Popcorn Park has grown immensely and now is home to more than 200 rescued animals. Popcorn Park said they look forward to further expansion through their five-year plan, which paves the way for future growth and allows them to help even more animals in need.

"We look forward to welcoming friends and supporters to celebrate this milestone and welcome our new additions to the Park. For forty-five years Popcorn Park has provided families with an opportunity to see and learn about the animals we have rescued and provide care for. There are few places like it on the East Coast," Jerry Rosenthal, CEO of Associated Humane Societies & Popcorn Park, said in a release.
Popcorn Park Animal Refuge is also creating a celebratory Ad Journal to commemorate the occasion and to share memories, showcase businesses and celebrate Popcorn Park.
The Ad Journal will also include exclusive content from Popcorn Park archives, offering a behind-the-scenes look into some of the Refuge's most memorable rescues from the past 45 years.
The event costs $100 per person, including food and drink. Vegetarian and vegan options are available. The attire is cocktail casual. Visit AHS online to purchase tickets and Ad Journal sponsorships.
