Barnegat Police Chief Suspended With Pay, Township Attorney Confirms

Police Chief Arthur P. Drexler was suspended on Monday

Barnegat Police Chief Arthur P. Drexler has been suspended with pay since Monday, Township Attorney Jerry R. Dasti confirmed today.

"He's out of the building," Dasti said. Dasti would not discuss the reasons for the suspension. Neither would Mayor John Novak.

"I cannot comment on the police chief," he said. "All inquiries have been referred to our township attorneys."

Drexler became the fourth police chief in Barnegat in December of 2006.

"Chief Drexler grew up in Barnegat and has held nearly every position within the department during a career that has spanned nearly three decades," according to the police department website.
