LACEY, NJ — As Chief Michael DiBella heads into his next big adventure of retirement, the impact he had on the Lacey community will not be forgotten.

That was the sentiment shared Thursday night by the Lacey Township Committee, who each took the time during their meeting to share their thanks and well wishes towards the newly-retired chief.

DiBella's last day was Dec. 1, after 28 years spent with the Lacey Township Police Department, with the last six of those as chief.

"He did a fabulous job in the police department," said Committeeman Steven Kennis. "He really stepped up when we needed somebody to fill the role of chief."

It's not easy being chief, said Deputy Mayor Tim McDonald, but DiBella did "a very, very good job."
