• Fear Grows in Lakewood's Immigrant Community as ICE Presence Expands Across Township (shorenewsnetwork.com) — Undocumented residents in Lakewood are reporting a sharp increase in visible ICE activity, with sightings near downtown, churches, schools, and Ocean County Park changing daily routines. Advocacy group Cosecha New Jersey alleges agents are using local sites to transfer detainees, while officials have not confirmed specific claims. Recent deadly crashes involving undocumented defendants have intensified the enforcement debate, even as many Lakewood families now live with heightened fear and uncertainty.
• From Carload to Kapparos Center – The Voice of Lakewood (thevoiceoflakewood.com) — A longtime Lakewood family is once again running "The Original Lakewood Kapparos Center" in the parking lot of Mordy's Shtiebel, offering full-service kapparos from live chickens through shechitah and grilling. Thousands of birds are processed under police oversight, with many meals going to local needy families and proceeds supporting Mordy's after a recent fire. The operation has grown from a carload of chickens to a 3,500-bird community hub.
