PA Man Visits Lawrence Police To Promote Autism Awareness

Alex Mann has visited police departments in 5 states to support for law enforcement and educate officers on dealing with people with autism.

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ —Alex Mann a 22-year-old with autism, has a goal to visit as many police departments across the state. His aim is to support law enforcement and share a personal perspective on how officers can better understand and interact with individuals with autism.

On Thursday, Mann visited the Lawrence Township Police Department. This was the 294th stop on his long trip.

During his visit to the police department, Mann met with Mayor John Ryan and toured the police building.

He participated in a personal K-9 demonstration and also received a certificate of appreciation for his commitment to educating officers about autism. The LTPD also gave Mann an official departmental police patch and challenge coin.

“I would like to thank Alex for visiting the Lawrence Township Police Department. We were honored to be part of his mission, Alex is truly an amazing young man," Police Chief Chris Longo told Patch.

"His visit provided officers with information to better recognize people with autism, and help with future interactions. We are lucky to have gained a new friend in Alex.”

So far, Mann has visited 294 police departments in five states. He is committed to traveling over 10,000 miles to spread his message and show support for law enforcement agencies.
