BMW With Key Fob Swiped From Livingston Driveway, Recovered Next Day

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Among the recent police reports made public, a BWM with a key fob left in it was stolen from a Livingston driveway last week, police said.

Police said they responded at 11:56 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, to a Hillside Avenue residence on a report of a stolen vehicle.

Officers met with the owner who said the BMW X5 was parked in the driveway the night before, but the next morning, the car was missing.

The vehicle was left unlocked and the key fob was left inside, police said.

The vehicle was recovered in Belleville the next day The case is being investigated by the Livingston Detective Bureau.

Criminal Damage

On Sunday at 10:30 a.m., Livingston officers on patrol saw that the NJ Transit bus stop shelter at Livingston Center had glass smashed out of it. After officers spoke with several store owners, it was determined that an unknown suspect had thrown a large rock/paver through the glass of the shelter some time on Saturday. The case is being investigated by the Livingston Detective Bureau.

Drug Offense

Sunday at 4 p.m., Livingston Police Officer Dave Naylor was on patrol near the Livingston Mall and pulled over a vehicle in the parking lot. After an investigation, two men were arrested: Davail Weston, 30, from Newark, and Kavon Nixon, 22, from East Orange. They were charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Weston was released on a summons and Nixon was transported to the Essex County Jail.
