Don’t Ignore the Burn: Recognizing and Managing GERD

Join us for an educational program that helps individuals distinguish occasional heartburn from chronic Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD).

This informative session will focus on identifying persistent symptoms like frequent acid regurgitation and sleep disruption, while highlighting the long-term risks of untreated esophageal damage. Participants will learn practical management strategies, including lifestyle modifications, dietary changes, and medical treatments.

Presenter David J. Berler, MD, is a general surgeon, certified by the American Board of Surgery, at the Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center. Dr. Berler's care philosophy is rooted in the shared decision-making model, and he closely collaborates with patients in order to help them accomplish their individualized goals. He values and respects the relationships that can be developed with patients and their families and finds fulfillment in the trust patients place in him at a difficult and stressful point in their lives. He brings this supportive outlook to his practice to ensure an optimistic, confident, and comfortable process for all patients.
