Car Stolen And Home Burglarized On Christmas Eve In Livingston

LIVINGSTON, NJ — A home was burglarized and a car was stolen on New Year's Eve in Livingston, according to police reports from the past week.

Aside from those, there were several burglary attempts were made in town last week. Here is the rundown:

On Christmas Eve at 2:31 a.m., Livingston police responded to a Winchestern Road home on a report of a burglary. The homeowners said they returned home after being out for several hours and found that someone got in through a rear window. The house had been ransacked. The homeowners are compiling a list of the items that were stolen.

At 9:55 p.m. that night, police responded to Cobblewood Road. A man said his Range Rover. He had left it unlocked with the key fob inside.

On Dec. 22, at 11:04 a.m., police responded to an East McClellan Avenue home. The homeowner said she saw someone run up her driveway and entered her unlocked vehicle. She yelled at the suspect, who fled in a waiting vehicle.

At 12:19 p.m., an Alcott Drive resident went to police headquarters to say his Jeep had been burglarized in his driveway a few hours earlier. Surveillance video showed someone running up his driveway and entering the unlocked Jeep. The person took money and fled to a waiting vehicle, police said.

The next day, on Dec. 23 at 9:37 a.m., Livingston police responded to a Woodcrest Drive home on a report of attempted burglary. The homeowner told police he'd heard someone at his front door, then observed two suspects attempting to force their way in from the rear of the home.

He confronted them and chased them off, police said. The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating.
