Catalytic Converters Taken From 4 Separate Honda Accords In 1 Essex County Town

Got a Honda Accord? Watch out for thieves sneaking underneath. Four catalytic conversions were stolen in an Essex County town last weekend.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — The Livingston police said Tuesday that over this past weekend, Oct. 29 to 30, there were four catalytic converter thefts on different streets. The car part was stolen from four Honda Accords.

Experts say the price of precious metals in the converters has been rising, including platinum, palladium, and rhodium. Recycling facilities will pay for the converters.

And Honda is known for using more precious metals, say experts. Thieves can cut them out of the bottom of the cars in 30 seconds.
