Orchestra Concert August 5

The Essex County Summer Players Orchestra will be performing in its 12th summer season on Sunday, August 5 at Livingston High School, at 3:00 PM. Admission and parking are free.

The program will consist of the Fanfare from La Peri by Paul Dukas (composer of “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”), Serenade for Strings by Antonin Dvorak, Serenade for Winds by Richard Strauss, and Symphony #4 by Johannes Brahms.

This concert will mark the debut appearance of the ECSPO in its new performance venue, the auditorium of the Livingston High School. “We are definitely excited about being in this terrific facility,” said Livingston resident Oliver Shapiro, who serves as the group’s principal cellist and Executive Director. “We are especially indebted to the Arts Council of Livingston, which has recently approved our membership into their ranks. We are pleased and honored to be able to help their mission of furthering all of the arts in Livingston.” Shapiro, a private music teacher providing lessons in cello and piano, began the orchestra in 2001 as the first summertime community orchestra in New Jersey in over 30 years.
