Hillside Elementary Named 2016 National School of Character

The Livingston elementary school has been recognized for its focus on effective character development programs.

Hillside Elementary was recognized among 68 schools Tuesday as one of the 2016 National Schools of Character by Character.org.

The Livingston Public Schools’ Facebook page attributes the recognition to Hillside demonstrating a dedicated focus on character development programs that positively affect academic achievement, student behavior and school climate. The process involved rigorous and in-depth evaluation from the organization, making the designation that much more valuable.

According to their website, Character.org is a national nonprofit that works with schools and districts to educate young people to be ethical and engaged citizens. It is dedicated to developing young people to be both intelligent and good citizens through the advancement of quality character development in all schools.
