Livingston Democrats Make Leadership Switch: New Chair Elected
The Livingston Democratic County Committee is focusing on "moving forward together" in the wake of the primary election, its new chair said.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — The Livingston Democratic County Committee has a new politician in the leadership seat: Michael Vieira.
Vieira – who serves as a town council member in Livingston – was elected as the organization’s chair during its recent reorganization meeting. He takes the reins from outgoing chair, Patricia Sebold.
Other people elected to leadership positions include Rosy Bagolie (vice chair), Stacey Abenstein (second vice chair), Rudy Fernandez (treasurer) and Robert Lipshitz (secretary).

Vieira said he was “honored and humbled” by the selection.
“I want to congratulate each of the individuals elected this evening and thank everyone who was willing to step forward and serve,” he said. “Leadership is never about one person – it takes a team.”

Vieira said the committee is focused on the importance of moving forward together in the wake of June’s primary election, which included a tight race for Livingston Town Council.
“Primaries can sometimes leave us tired, disappointed, or divided – but tonight is not about reliving the past,” Vieira said. “Healthy debate can make us stronger, but our success has always come when we come together around our shared Democratic values, support one another, and focus on what is best for Livingston.”
’50 YEARS OF LEADERSHIP’
As part of the evening’s proceedings, the committee also voted to designate Patricia Sebold as chair emeritus in recognition of her “extraordinary 50 years of leadership and service” to the Livingston Democratic County Committee.
Vieira also recognized Sebold’s lasting impact on both the committee and the community.
“For 50 years, Pat Sebold dedicated herself to building and sustaining this committee,” Vieira said. “That level of commitment is remarkable and deserves recognition and appreciation.”
“I will not walk in Pat’s shoes: they are simply too big,” Vieira said. “But what I will do is continue walking on the paths she helped carve for all of us and continue building upon the foundation she created.”
