Livingston Fire Report: Car Fire / Chemical Fumes / Gas Odor / Alarms

Wednesday, January 6 – 2 Calls
37 W. Cedar St. - Homeowner reported her fire alarm was activated after PSE&G left house after service. Found blower motor had stopped working; PSE&G back on scene & shut furnace down & to be repaired. Homeowner advised.

19 So. Livingston Ave. - Fire alarm transmission, found broken sprinkler by front window. System was shut down & drained. Bldg. owner was notified & Service Company on scene.

Thursday, January 7 – 7 Calls
18 Michele Ln. - Fire alarm transmission, system malfunctioned & reset by homeowner.
8 Iroquois Dr. - Report of burning odor in residence, resid. was checked with thermal imager. Found flame on stove came into contact w/handle from pot which caused handle to burn & fall apart. Homeowner advised.
73 Shrewsbury Dr. - Fire alarm transmission, system activated due to contractor working in garage & striking the heat detector. System reset by contractor.
39 Hazelwood Dr. - Homeowner was attempting to clear drain in upstairs bathroom when he became overcome by chemical fumes from drain cleaner. Resid. was vented, homeowner refused medical attention. Plumbing contractor contacted & responding.
54 Wynnewood Rd. - CO alarm transmission, found detector to be defective. Homeowner advised.
175 E. Cedar St. - Report of smoke coming from above location, found wood burning stove being used in area. No problem.
8 Consul Dr. - Homeowner started fire in fireplace but did not open the flue. Smoke had activated the smoke alarm in front hallway. Alarm would not reset & Alarm Co. to be contacted.
Friday, January 8 – 7 Calls
9 Tulane Dr. - Odor of smoke in area, area was checked & nothing found.
45 Fellswood Dr. - Homeowner stated he smelled an electrical burning smell outside resid. Resid. was checked & nothing found.
13 Timber Hill Rd. - CO alarm transmission, resid. was checked with dept. meter & nothing found.
9 Carillion Circle - Report of a chemical like odor in area, area was checked & nothing was found.
6 Gablewalk Rd. - Reported gas odor in resid. Upon arrival PSE&G was on scene & cleared residence. No action taken.
156 E. Cedar St. - Report of gas odor outside bldg., entire area was checked found fuel was leaking from car. Absorbent pads were placed under leak & tow company to remove vehicle.
14 Tilden Ct. - Report of water coming from the residence, upon arrival found water coming from garage; entry was gained via 2nd floor bathroom window. Water & Power were shut off to residence. Water damage to lower level & caretaker on scene.
Saturday, January 9 – 2 Calls
299 E. Northfield Rd. - Fire alarm transmission, system was reset prior to dept. arrival. Found smoke condition as result of overheated motor on refrigerator. Homeowner advised.
21 Canterbury Rd. - Report of gas leak in laundry room, area was checked with dept. meter & found slight odor near dryer hose. Gas was shut off to unit & homeowner to contact PSE&G.
Sunday, January 10 – 5 Calls
29 Tremont Terr. - CO alarm transmission, resid. was checked with dept. meter & nothing found. Unit had low battery.
10 White Oak Rd. - CO alarm transmission, resid. was checked with meter & no reading. Unit had low battery.
171 E. Cedar St. - Tree down across roadway, upon arrival found a Landscaping Company using a snow plow to clear road. No action taken.
85 No Rockledge Dr. - Fire alarm transmission, resid. checked from exterior only no problem.
277 Eisenhower Pkwy - Fire alarm transmission, found a detector had activated as result of malfunction. Manager on scene & reset system.
Monday, January 11 – 5 Calls
21 Canoe Brook Rd. - Fire alarm transmission, dept. cancelled prior to arrival.
5 Canoe Brook Rd. - CO alarm transmission, no reading in resid. Homeowner advised that Alarm Company is scheduled to come out and service system.
6 Tulip Ct. - Homeowner set alarm off in error, no problem.
Car Fire Rt. 280 mile marker 5.8 - Report of a vehicle fire at above location, upon arrival found engine compartment fully involved. Fire was extinguished & vehicle to be towed from highway.
5 Canoe Brook Rd. - Faulty detector on 2nd floor, homeowner cancelled dept. prior to arrival.
Tuesday, January 12 – 2 Calls
277 Eisenhower Pkwy - Fire alarm transmission, occupancy checked nothing found activated. Bank manager on scene & advised.
6 Splitrock Rd. - Report of homeowner locked out of residence with 2 month old inside. Entry gained through force through front door, slight damage to door. Homeowner advised & satisfied.
