Livingston Gets A New School Principal From Passaic County

The Livingston Board of Education voted at a special meeting Monday to hire a new principal. She will hold a meet and greet in September.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — The Livingston Board of Education voted at a special meeting Monday to appoint a new principal for Burnet Hill Elementary School.

Lisa Barreto will come to Livingston after serving as principal of a middle school and elementary school in the Passaic County district of Woodland Park, N.J.

The district plans to hold a meet and greet for her prior to the Board of Education meeting on Sept. 6, 2022.

"The special voting meeting was held to provide Mrs. Barreto with ample time to inform her current district and to allow her to begin her transition to LPS as soon as possible," said a release from the district.

According to the district, Barreto began her career as an elementary school teacher, and taught at various elementary school grade levels for 15 years.

She has held various leadership roles in her current district, Woodland Park, including basic skills coordinator, middle school assistant principal, and principal of Charles Olbon Elementary School.

Mrs. Barreto holds a BA in English Writing and her MA in Educational Leadership from William
Paterson University. She is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Education in Leadership program
at William Paterson University.

"We are truly excited to welcome Mrs. Barreto to Livingston Public Schools," the district said in its announcement.
