Livingston Police Beat: UPS Truck Burglary, Car Break-In

Here are the Livingston police reports released for the first week of August 2022.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Here are details of police reports from last week in Livingston:

Attempted Burglary of UPS Truck

On Aug. 3 at 4:35 p.m., Livingston Officers responded to Brandon Avenue on a report of an attempted burglary to a UPS truck. Upon officers arrival, they met with the driver of the UPS truck who said that he was in the rear of the truck when someone entered the front of the truck.

The person then realized that the UPS driver in the back of the truck and fled the scene in an awaiting black BMW that was found to be a stolen vehicle.

Officers canvassing the area saw the black BMW, but it fled onto Route 280 East. The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating.

Macy’s Shoplifting

Last Saturday, Aug. 6 at 12:48 p.m., Livingston Officers responded to Macy’s on a report of shoplifter in custody. Upon arrival, Loss prevention officers had a 46 year old woman from Newark in custody.

Police said she hid more than $700 in merchandise in several bags and left the store without paying. She was arrested, charged with shoplifting and possession of stolen property, and released on a summons.

Attempted Burglary To A Volkswagen

This past Monday at 8:46 a.m., Livingston police officers responded to a Driftwood Drive residence on a report of a vehicle that was entered overnight and ransacked. The person found the contents strewn around the vehicle. The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating.
